Hi - I'm Sarah!
I am a down to earth mum of two teenage children and have turned my hand to many different things over the years from teaching horsemanship to plastering! I have however always maintained a love for all things musical - particularly the saxophone.
In 2006 having been in the same rather unfulfilling job for several years i decided to bite the bullet & re train. Having played tenor sax for several years & being passionate about playing & therefore restoring vintage instruments, I enrolled on a 3 year full time course at Newark Technical College to study woodwind making and repair.
The course covered many advanced repair techniques working on the whole woodwind family including double reed instruments. A large part of the training & my final grade, involved making a complete wooden Bb clarinet from raw materials. (Meaning that whatever comes through the door now, there is not much that is not repairable, if its broken or obsolete I can adapt something or make a new one).
I graduated in 2009 with merit and now have a fab workshop and an established repair business in West Yorkshire, I am a professional member of NAMIR (the Association of Musical Instrument Repairers) dealing with schools, colleges and individuals from as far down the country as London and as far up as Scotland!
